Channels Update — November 2026
Channels
Get ready for Christmas selling across your Channels: November updates and practical checks for stock, promotions, delivery and returns.
Christmas is coming, and November is a good moment to make selling a little simpler. Before adding another promotion, check three things: what is ready to sell, when it can leave, and how you will look after the buyer afterwards.
This month's briefing covers Amazon, eBay, Shopify, WooCommerce, Website and POS, alongside our separate Discogs tools coverage. It combines recent official announcements with established guidance that is particularly useful before Christmas. News and seasonal checks are labelled separately; the practical recommendations are ours.
Sources checked on 2 November 2026. Delivery dates below are UK domestic planning references, not promises for every service or destination. Recheck the linked provider notices before using them in customer-facing messages.
Start with three manageable jobs
- Count your important stock. Start with bestsellers, gift lines and items down to their last few units. Separate available stock from customer reservations, damaged goods and deliveries still on the way.
- Agree your Christmas delivery message. Give the team one reference for order cut-offs, dispatch days, collection arrangements and holiday closures.
- Try one order all the way through. Check the price, payment, stock change, packing and dispatch, then rehearse cancellation or return handling safely.
You do not need to improve everything at once. A small set of well-checked products is a useful place to begin.
Amazon: plan for gift returns as well as gift orders
Seasonal policy announcement. Amazon's 2026 holiday notice says most eligible items purchased from 1 November to 25 December 2026 can be returned until 31 January 2027, or 30 days after delivery, whichever is later. For the UK, this covers both Fulfilment by Amazon and merchant-fulfilled orders. Amazon says the extension is automatic and normal eligibility rules remain unchanged. Amazon's official holiday returns notice sets out the country-specific exceptions for other European stores.
Our November action: include January returns in your staffing and cash-flow planning, rather than treating Christmas Eve as the end of the season. Prepare a simple inspection routine so a refunded item is not assumed to be ready for resale before its condition is checked.
For incoming FBA stock, check what is actually received and sellable before building a promotion around it. For orders you dispatch yourself, match the handling promise to the people and carrier collections you will have available.
eBay: make the dispatch promise match the working day
Seasonal delivery announcement. eBay UK has published Christmas posting guidance for Royal Mail, Evri and InPost. It says estimated delivery dates on listings will be adjusted in line with carriers' recommended latest posting dates, while warning that those recommendations can change. See eBay's official Christmas delivery notice.
Our November action: check handling times against your actual packing and collection schedule. An updated marketplace delivery estimate is not a replacement for deciding when your own team can hand a parcel over.
Before a multi-buy or other promotion, try a representative basket. Check that the discount still works after postage, packaging and fees, and that scarce stock has not slipped into the offer. Keep a short daily exceptions list for orders waiting on stock, an address correction or a missed collection.
Shopify: use the new stock counts before the rush
New feature, announced 20 October. Shopify now provides a stock-count workflow in its admin: organise counts, let staff record shelf quantities, and review differences before approving changes. Permissions separate counting from approval. See the Shopify stock-count announcement.
Counting in the Shopify POS app is a separate availability detail: Shopify's stock-count help says that requires POS Pro at the location. Check the workflow available in your store rather than assuming every plan and device has the same tools.
Our November action: count the products you intend to promote first. Give someone responsibility for reviewing discrepancies, and agree when changes should be applied to the stock record your operation relies on. The announcement concerns Shopify's own admin workflow.
WooCommerce: rehearse the order, including the reversal
Seasonal check, not a new release. WooCommerce's peak-season inventory guide, published in July, recommends testing a bestseller, a low-stock product and an item sold across multiple channels. Follow the stock changes through purchase and fulfilment, then check cancellation or refund behaviour too.
Our November action: use a staging store or a carefully controlled test, following your payment provider's testing rules. Note when each connected system changes quantity and what happens when the order is cancelled. Check backorders, variations or bundles if you actually sell them.
A refund and a restock are different decisions: compare the result with your intended process rather than expecting every refund to make an item sellable. Where a hand-off is manual, name its owner. This is a test of your real setup, not a promise that every WooCommerce extension or ChannelWeave workflow behaves identically.
Website and web commerce: keep delivery information consistent
Seasonal check. Google Merchant Center calculates delivery estimates using handling and transit business days, taking the order cut-off into account. Its guidance also explains holiday adjustments, including Christmas and Boxing Day in the UK. See Google's estimated delivery guidance.
Our November action: compare your product page, basket, checkout, delivery page and order confirmation. If you use Merchant Center, include its settings in the same review. A reassuring banner should agree with the service the buyer can actually select.
Set a shop order deadline that leaves time to pick, pack and hand over the parcel. Check international destinations separately. If you offer collection, make its location, opening hours and ready-to-collect message clear; placing an order need not mean it is ready immediately.
POS: include the shop floor in the Christmas plan
Seasonal operational check. Counter sales, telephone orders and collection reservations deserve the same attention as online orders when they draw on the same stock.
Our November action: agree how promptly staff record each sale, where reserved goods are kept, and how colleagues distinguish awaiting payment, awaiting collection and handed over. Give temporary staff a short written routine for the last unit and for returned goods awaiting inspection.
ChannelWeave's POS workflow supports manual orders and payment records. Recording a payment is not charging a card or connecting a payment terminal. Check the actual payment outcome before treating a counter order as paid, and keep the order record aligned with it.
Discogs: keep the copy, listing and dispatch terms aligned
Seasonal check using existing guidance. Discogs' CSV tools support inventory
exports and bulk listing changes. In the updated importer, an explicit DRAFT
status keeps an addition unpublished; an omitted status defaults to For Sale.
The classic Add and Change flows instead put items For Sale. Confirm the
interface you are using in the
official CSV guide
before preparing a bulk upload.
Our November action: reconcile your export against the physical copies, their condition and sales elsewhere. Test a small file before a larger change, and check the result in Discogs rather than treating file preparation as a completed marketplace update.
Review your dispatch days and holiday absences in Seller Terms too. Discogs' seller guidelines say destination restrictions must be reflected in Shipping Policies, not only written in the terms.
ChannelWeave's Discogs tools remain separate, manual/file-based workflows for this purpose. They do not provide live Discogs order or stock synchronisation, or automatic marketplace publishing.
Put the key dates in one place
For your promotional diary, Black Friday is 27 November and Cyber Monday is 30 November 2026, as listed in Shopify's retail calendar. Choose the offers that suit your stock and margin; taking part need not mean discounting the entire catalogue.
For UK domestic dispatch planning, Royal Mail's 2026 business-customer guide lists these selected latest posting dates:
- Friday 18 December: 2nd Class and Royal Mail 48.
- Saturday 19 December: Royal Mail Tracked 48.
- Monday 21 December: 1st Class, Royal Mail 24 and Royal Mail Tracked 24.
- Wednesday 23 December: Special Delivery Guaranteed.
These are carrier posting dates, not your shop's order cut-offs. Royal Mail 48 and Tracked 48 are different services here. Allow time for your own handling and confirmed collection or acceptance arrangements, especially if you do not dispatch on Saturdays. Dates are subject to change; check the Royal Mail business Christmas guide and current Christmas information before promising delivery. Use the relevant carrier and destination guidance for other services and international orders.
A calm weekly rhythm through Christmas
Keep one short review with the people who buy, sell and dispatch:
- Stock: what is running low, reserved, delayed or awaiting inspection?
- Offers: are promoted lines still available at a worthwhile margin?
- Orders: which need a decision before the next collection?
- Promises: do dispatch messages still match this week's capacity?
- Returns: who will handle enquiries and incoming goods during holiday cover?
The aim is not a perfect forecast. It is a shared, current picture that helps the team make clear promises and keep them. Start with the next practical step, then build on it as Christmas approaches.
