First sync

Connect a Channel and review its automatic first-sync outcomes.

Use this guide when connecting a Channel for the first time, or after a long disconnect. ChannelWeave starts supported first-sync work automatically; your job is to review the result before relying on it for daily operations.

Start with a narrow scope

Choose one channel and a small product set.

Before running the first sync:

  • Confirm the channel shows as connected on Control Centre.
  • Check that stock items have SKUs, product titles, units of measure, and sensible available quantities.
  • Confirm listing drafts or existing listings are linked to the right stock items.
  • Make sure carrier/provider setup is ready if the channel will need shipping labels or fulfilment actions.

Let the first sync run

  • Connect the Channel and leave Control Centre open or close the panel; the job continues in the background.
  • Watch channel health and event diagnostics.
  • Confirm channel-side updates.
  • Do not repeatedly select Refresh now while a sync is running. Refresh is a recovery action, not a normal first-sync step.

For eBay, ChannelWeave discovers all buyer-visible listings and exact-matches unique SKUs to stock. If the catalogue was empty when eBay was connected, unmatched listings become the initial stock catalogue. If stock already exists, unmatched or ambiguous listings remain visible for review rather than creating duplicates.

For WooCommerce, use Sync catalogue to import current products and variations, then Sync recent orders to import orders changed during the last 30 days. Unique product SKUs are linked to Stock in your account. Unmatched products stay visible for review; WooCommerce sync does not create duplicate Stock or publish new products.

Queue health

No growing backlog and no repeated retries.

Data parity

Key stock and listing values match between ChannelWeave and the channel.

Operational confidence

  • Imported orders are recognisable in Sales → Orders.
  • Listings link back to the expected stock item, with exceptions clearly marked for review.
  • Stock-consuming orders reduce available listing quantity as expected.
  • Any errors are visible in Events & diagnostics with enough context for the next action.

The Getting started checklist marks its sync step complete only after ChannelWeave records a successful channel sync. Queued, running, and failed work does not count as completion.
