Custom insights
Create custom insight rules and review persisted state from Settings.
Last updated:
Use Settings → Custom insights to define custom threshold rules on top of the built-in Insights engine.
What custom insights do
Each custom rule:
- Watches one supported operational signal
- Stores the latest rule state
- Opens a finding only when the rule is in
warnorfail - Resolves the open finding automatically when the rule returns to
info
This keeps the dashboard readable:
- State answers “what is true at the moment?”
- Finding answers “is there an active incident?”
Supported rule types
Current self-serve templates:
- Low-stock SKUs
- Recent error events
- Manual stock actions
- Cancelled orders
- Dispatch SLA overdue orders
Create a rule
- Open Settings → Custom insights.
- Select New custom rule.
- Enter a rule name.
- Choose an insight type.
- Set warning and fail thresholds.
- Preview the live result.
- Save the rule.
Rule behaviour
- Active rules appear in the Control Centre Insights panel.
- Active warning or fail incidents contribute to the quiet Control Centre sidebar attention signal while users are working elsewhere.
- Paused rules remain defined but do not open new findings.
- Deleting a rule resolves any open finding for that rule and removes its saved state.
- Dashboard, sidebar, and Eden reads use the latest saved rule state. They do not recompute custom insight rules during the request.
- Background refresh keeps saved rule state fresh, with a default three-minute sweep interval.
Preview before save
The rule modal includes a live preview so users can confirm:
- Current value
- Resulting severity
- Summary/message text
- Destination action link
Ask Eden about a rule
Eden can answer clear custom-rule questions in the Eden modal or full-page Eden using:
- The saved rule definition
- The latest persisted rule state
- The latest finding status
- Template-specific evidence (for example low-stock samples or recent error sources)
Eden does not trigger a recompute while answering. If a rule has just been created or operational data has just changed, the answer reflects the latest state already saved by the rule save action or background refresh.
