Custom insights

Create custom insight rules and review persisted state from Settings.

Use Settings → Custom insights to define custom threshold rules on top of the built-in Insights engine.

What custom insights do

Each custom rule:

  • watches one supported operational signal
  • stores the current rule state in insight_rule_state
  • opens a finding only when the rule is in warn or fail
  • resolves the open finding automatically when the rule returns to info

This keeps the dashboard readable:

  • state answers “what is true right now?”
  • finding answers “is there an active incident?”

Supported rule types

Current self-serve templates:

  • Low-stock SKUs
  • Recent error events
  • Manual stock actions
  • Cancelled orders
  • Dispatch SLA overdue orders

Create a rule

  1. Open Settings → Custom insights.
  2. Select New custom rule.
  3. Enter a rule name.
  4. Choose an insight type.
  5. Set warning and fail thresholds.
  6. Preview the live result.
  7. Save the rule.

Rule behaviour

  • Active rules appear in the Control Centre Insights panel.
  • Active custom rule incidents contribute to the sidebar Insights badge.
  • Paused rules remain defined but do not open new findings.
  • Deleting a rule resolves any open finding for that rule and removes its persisted state row.

Preview before save

The rule modal includes a live preview so operators can confirm:

  • current value
  • resulting severity
  • summary/message text
  • destination action link

Ask Eden about a rule

Eden can now answer clear custom-rule questions in Assistant using:

  • the saved rule definition
  • the latest persisted rule state
  • the latest finding status
  • template-specific evidence (for example low-stock samples or recent error sources)

Example prompts:

  • Which custom insight rules are currently failing?
  • Why is custom rule "Warehouse low stock watch" currently failing?
  • What are the warn and fail thresholds for custom rule "Recent error events"?
