Warehouses guide

Organise locations, bins, and bin types for stock operations.

Last updated:

Use this area to model where stock is physically stored and to keep the operational meaning of Warehouse clear.

Warehouse versus locations

  • Warehouse: operational workspace inside Inventory
  • Location: warehouse or fulfilment site record
  • Bin: storage position inside a location
  • Bin type: category or behaviour label for bins

Core structure

  • Location: warehouse or fulfilment site
  • Bin: storage position inside a location
  • Bin type: category or behaviour label for bins

Typical workflow

  1. Open Warehouse for day-to-day inventory work
  2. Create locations
  3. Create bin types
  4. Add bins to locations
  5. Receive or put stock away into bins from Warehouse
  6. Replenish, count, quarantine, and return stock by physical bin

Operational tips

  • Keep naming conventions consistent
  • Disable old bins/types instead of deleting where history matters
  • Review bin assignments regularly to keep picking accurate
  • Use a dedicated quarantine bin instead of leaving damaged stock in sellable bins
  • On narrower layouts, the Bin type summary cell carries hidden status badges when the standalone Status column is collapsed, and only the final Action column stays sticky
